Sorry to hear.

Kasey talks often about people teaching BS martial arts and self defense that will get you killed. Does this mean that all MA and all SD instructors are bad? Does this mean you should save your money and never learn MAvor SD? Nope, it means you should do your homework and be selective

Yes there are stupid things that are/were done under the guise of alternative medicine. Does this make all alternative medicine bad? No There are quacks, opportunist, charlatans and misguided people in every profession.

Chiropractor go to school for 8-10 years, same as a medical doctor. The difference is the subjects they learned. They focus more on anatomy, physiology, bio-mechanics, nutrition.

There were studies done in California, Oregon, Utah, Florida, Australia that shows that people who suffered injuries and chose to have chiropractic care experienced a shorter time off work, a lesser disability and at a lower cost than those who sought medical care.

A study in Virginia showed that chiropractic care helped out athletes return to competition faster if they have sustained some injuries, and secondly, it seemed to be preventative, in the sense that it kept athletes more mobile and flexible and feeling better.

A 1991 study indicated chiropractic care increased capillary count (a measure of physical fitness) significantly within 14
weeks of care. Other studies demonstrate a correlation that subluxation-free athletes react faster, coordinate better and
execute fine movements with improved accuracy and precision, thus a better athlete.

Chiropractic has been included in the Olympic’s medical team since the 1980s and now has a strong presence in all major
professional and collegiate associations

There are tons of other studies.
But the proof is always in the pudding. Find yourself a good chiropractor and experience the benefits yourself.

Personally, when I was 16 I suffered a very bad accident. I was taken to the hospital and treated by multiple medical doctors. I followed up by many more visits to medical clinics. They all told me the same thing, I would never walk again. In their scientific opinion, this was it for me. They did all they know how to do. They sent me home with a pair of crutches and some medication.
My father took me to see a chiropractor. I walked out of his office with my crutches under my arm. Apparently, the medical field does not consider subluxation and their effect on the nervous and musculo-skeletal system to be a valid scientific diagnosis. I am glad the chiropractor did.

Small minded people live in a bubble and think this is all there is to the world. Others are not afraid to seek out answers that will make them better and stronger.Lise Steenersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05040510534717038918noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7799466056750785352.post-20990476369272367052011-06-15T06:01:02.119-07:002011-06-15T06:01:02.119-07:00Controversy on the blog, how exciting! This is th...Controversy on the blog, how exciting! This is the first time I’ve ever had to act as a moderator. OK let me start with - I am no expert in this field. This blog is simply advocating things that have worked for me. I have had good results from regular chiropractic care. I can’t prove that it works, nor feel any need to. If anyone doesn’t believe in the efficacy of Chiropractic fell free to ignore my advice. The purpose of the Super Soldier Project is to increase and prolong peak human performance.

For those of you who do not advocate chiropractic, or discourage it can you suggest a medical treatment to improve athletic performance or increase joint flexibility?

It seems in response to the blog we have two very diverging opinions. I agree that we don’t need to spend energy trying to get both to agree. However, I would like to learn as much as I can from both points of view.

Its kinda cool the blog inspired impassioned argument.

Joshkie –
Have I read that book? C’mon dude. Who are you talking to? That book was originally called “How to be totally bad ass just like Kasey Keckeisen” but the publishing company thought that was too hard core. So the renamed it “How to be Batman”Kaseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16392248937462950113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7799466056750785352.post-80433248189826210752011-06-15T02:01:11.495-07:002011-06-15T02:01:11.495-07:00==

Both are needed.
===
Not entirely true, chiropractic along with several other 'treatments' (e.g. homeopathy or aromatherapy) are not needed.

===
Problems comes when idiots like you try to take over the world with their nonsensical superior attitude and negate all the good things chiropractic does.This attitude usually stems from lack of self confidence and ignorance. If you trust your skills, you don't need to put anyone else's down.
===
Hmm, an extremely lengthy ad hominenm attack. Normally I wouldn't bother but in for a penny in for a pound. Whilst I never have (and never will) make any claims to a high intelligence I am certainly not an idiot. There are various bits of paper that confirm this.

The last person I can recall that attempted to take over the world (I won't count the previous US President though it seemed like he might try) ended up committing suicide over 60 years ago. I wish to rule nothing.

It is not nonsensical or superior. It is an outlook formed on one of the most drastically misunderstood concepts around. The scientific method.

A lack of self-confidence? An interesting claim given that you don't know me. Nobody is self-confident in everything they do. To claim otherwise is foolish.

As for ignorant well everyone is, just about different things.

Putting someone elses skills down doesn't really involve trust in your own, although I suppose research counts as a skill so perhaps it does.

===
And if the medical world is so superior why is there a crying demand for alternative medicine?
===
Simply put, people are easily conned and generally, due to educational failings, don't understand the scientific method. They take all the anecdotes and hear data.

===
Alternative to getting cut or drugged every time you have an issue. Alternative to masking the problem instead of finding what the true cause is?
===
Alternative medicine has, by definition, been proven not to work or not been proven to work. Proven alternative medicine, that's just called medicine. Medcine does not always involve being cut and/or drugged. It doesn't really mask the problem it generally cures it, which is slightly different.

===
Good people, go forth and pay heed to Kasey's blog for he speaks the truth.
===
Personally I always took it to be an opinion. I don't know Kasey at all but from his writing (which I find very engaging btw) that's the impression I get.

The thing is though that I'm willing to bet (on the basis that you're main argument is ad hominem) that nothing I've written will change your opinion of either me or mine, which kind of renders further discourse pointless sadly. Feel free to reply and have the final word but I won't be responding again.

Cheers.Mr Fahrenheithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10237144937305158815noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7799466056750785352.post-58800526889632656412011-06-15T00:37:10.915-07:002011-06-15T00:37:10.915-07:00Cochrane reviews don't even have an entry for ...Cochrane reviews don't even have an entry for Chiropractice, I'm not sure why a review hasn't been done yet.

It seems that while medical practitioners will concede that adjusting the vertebrae can in some cases be beneficial when nerve supply is a problem, Chiropractice is completely unsuitable when dealing with other medical problems unrelated to the nervous system (which is a claim that some chiropractors have made).

A 'fringe' element of chiropractors who don't practice evidence based treatment is mentioned in this article.

http://www.bmj.com.ipacez.nd.edu.au/content/342/bmj.d1977.long

Anyway, I hope that was interesting and/or helpful.Eliashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10414387884082142915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7799466056750785352.post-23700120108523571132011-06-14T18:57:57.780-07:002011-06-14T18:57:57.780-07:00I'm a physiotherapy student, so I'm no exp...I'm a physiotherapy student, so I'm no expert but I do know a little bit of what I'm talking about; some aspects of Chiropractic treatment do work, but are somewhat invasive (eg. shifting vertebrae; whereas we would consider teaching exercises that improve your posture to be a better treatment), whereas some of their other claims (that they can cure almost anything through chiropractice) are way way way off.

This is just the opinion I've formed through conversations with physios, chiropractors and their patients, which is all anecdotal really. However there's a foundation called the Cochrane Foundation whose research reviews are considered the best in medical practise. I don't have access to it off campus, but I'll go in later today for some study, and in some of my downtime I'll see what the research reviews have to say about Chiropractice.Eliashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10414387884082142915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7799466056750785352.post-9010322100812301442011-06-14T18:33:09.801-07:002011-06-14T18:33:09.801-07:00You might find this interesting I read a book titl...You might find this interesting I read a book titled, "Becoming Batman" by E.
